Showcasing their love of Mendelssohn, Consone Quartet release the first in a series of Mendelssohn’s complete string quartets: Mendelssohn String Quartet in E flat major ‘1823’ & String Quartet in E flat major, Op. 44 No 3. Using editions from Mendelssohn’s day, including the scrupulously marked-up parts of German violinist and composer Ferdinand David (1810–1873), the Consone quartet set out a new interpretation of String Quartet in E flat major ‘1823’.
The award-winning young quartet create a unique warm sound with their use of gut strings as they explore one of Mendelssohn’s early works along with his penultimate quartet String Quartet in E flat major, Op.44 No.3. Consone quartet were the first period instrument string quartet to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists.
